March 16, 2015
The innovative service enables customers to withdraw cash from Leumi ATMs using only their smartphones, without the need for a bank card.
Bank Leumi's recently-launched 'Cash by Mobile' service, has won the Product of the Year 2015 award in the 'Innovative Banking' category. The prestigious title was awarded to Leumi during the Annual Product of the Year Awards ceremony, held last evening at the Tel Aviv Museum.
The innovative service – the first of its kind in Israel – allows customers using the Leumi Mobile app to wirelessly withdraw cash with their mobile phone at a Leumi ATM, without using an actual credit or debit card. In order to withdraw the cash, the smartphone must be placed adjacent to a component located on the ATM, after which a secret password is keyed in and the withdrawal amount is entered.
Leumi is the first bank in Israel to offer its customers this innovative service, based on ground-breaking Israeli technology, which enables the identification of mobile phones in close proximity to ATMs by means of Bluetooth technology.
The Product of the Year Awards Ceremonies are held in 30 countries worldwide, and are organized in Israel by the "Israeli Superbrands Club". The awards are granted to innovative, high-quality products and services, based on research conducted by the TNS MySeker institute.
The research included a sample of 2,000 Israeli consumers who were asked to rank a wide range of products in various categories, according to their level of attractiveness, innovation, and satisfaction.
