Community service - a Leumi tradition

From its earliest beginnings, Leumi has regarded community service as an integral part of its business. Over the years, the bank has contributed to numerous cultural, health and educational institutions.

In conjunction with The Jewish Agency’s Immigration and Absorption Department, Leumi provides Jewish students and academics from abroad the opportunity to volunteer in Israel in the field of banking and finance.

In keeping with the vision of the bank’s founders, the Board of Directors and management of Leumi decided to establish a special fund to commemorate its centennial. This fund supports educational projects specifically geared to reduce the gaps in Israeli society, with the aim of strengthening Israel’s future generation.

In April 2004, Leumi and the daily Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot launched a project to provide equal chances to underprivileged families throughout Israel.

In 1989 the bank initiated the Young Entrepreneurs Project along with the Van Leer Institute of Jerusalem and has been involved in it ever since. The project is part of the Junior Achievement International Inc. (JAI) organization that was established in Colorado and is involved in education for entrepreneurship.
