A 'Basket Certificate' is an investment instrument enabling investors to observe and pay attention to a range of indices.
The Trust Co. acts as trustee for many of these certificates. In these cases the assets of the certificate are pledged to the trustee which daily carefully compares the value of the certificates assets with the issuer's liability to the investor.
