Use an antivirus on your computer and update it regularly.

Use a Personal Firewall on the PC.
Use a new version of your preferred browser (such as Internet Explorer 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.5, Safari 3.2, Opera 9.5, and Google Chrome, or the latest versions available).
Update your computer's operating system, browser and other common software with security patches.
Do not keep any personal identification information on your computer to avoid exposure to Trojan Horses or file-sharing software (such as e-Mule), which enable access to files on the computer.
Avoid installing unrecognized software on your computer.
Avoid downloading unrecognized files from the Internet.
We recommend automatically deleting temporary files upon closing the browser. In Internet Explorer this can be done through the Tools menu > Internet Options > Advanced > Empty Temporary Internet Files folder, when the browser is closed. For other browsers, please delete temporary files as necessary.
