Leumi Employees Participate in the 2013 "March of the Living" in Poland

On April 8, 2013, Holocaust Memorial Day, a delegation of Leumi employees participated in the annual "March of the Living" between Auschwitz and Birkenau, in Poland.  The delegation, which included 80 of the bank's employees, was headed by CEO of the Arab-Israel Bank, Mr. Danny Gitter.

This year's March of the Living commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and focused on acts of courage and resistance during the Holocaust.  For the Leumi delegation, participation in the March represented the climax of an intensive and emotional trip that included visits to the ghettos and Jewish sites in and around Warsaw and Krakow, as well as to the concentration and extermination camps of Majdanek, Auschwitz, and Birkenau.

The experiences and the emotions that they aroused were amplified by the freezing weather and snow that continued throughout the trip.

Leumi views the dispatch of this delegation of this type as a mission of national significance. As the bank that has accompanied the Zionist movement since its establishment, Leumi contributed significantly towards the establishment of the State of Israel, and will continue contributing towards the development of the country and the empowerment of Israeli society.
