BOI reports Leumi the Leading Service Provider for Seven Consecutive years
Recently, the BOI published its 2010 annual report regarding banking inquiries and customer complaints. According to this report, Leumi has led the field in resolving customer inquiries and complaints for seven consecutive years, far outranking all other Israeli banks, with the lowest level number of justified customer complaints. Additionally, the BOI has ranked Leumi's operations as the best of the five largest Israeli banks.
Leumi Card and Leumi Mortgage subsidiaries were also included in the BOI's examination of banking operations, and were found to have the least number of justified complaints in their respected operational fields.
According to the BOI's published 2010 report, the Banking Supervision Department received 7,165 written inquiries and complaints, submitted by banking and credit card company customers, 2,757 of which were complaints and the remainder, requests for further information. 2,028 of these complaints were given a status of "justified" or "unjustified," with the remainder given an "indeterminate status"-with no decision reached due to oral contradictions, simultaneous legal proceedings or previous resolutions of a customer's inquiries.
25% of the complaints received regarding the bank or credit card companies were found to be justified, a decrease from 26.6% in 2009. Decreases in the proportion of justified customer complaints were recorded at all of Israel's five largest banks. ( View the complete review in Hebrew.)
